As a photographer, I end up renting a lot of different spaces for my clients. Some offer large open spaces with lots of natural light, and some offer parking garages and rooftops! One thing that is for sure, is that they are all unique, just like each of my clients. That’s why I always send my clients a list of recommended location rental options, so they can choose a the space that best fits their need. Continue reading, because I’m about to give you all the details on my favorite Metro Detroit photography studios and why they make my recommendation list.
Tribe Detroit
What I absolutely love about Tribe Detroit is its super bright, white space. If your brand is bright and feminine, Tribe Detroit is my recommendation for you. It offers a wall of windows to bring in lots of natural light, and wainscoting along the wall with pops of feminine touches like a modern gold chandelier. Located in this space is also a small kitchenette and a bathroom for outfit changes. It even includes a prop room that houses fun and cute desk items, books, coffee cups, and more! There are white tables I have used to create a look of a desk, and a few small seating options like a couch and bench.
LMP Collective
Looking for a mix of both urban and clean? Look no than LMP Collective in downtown Pontiac! The studio room might be on the smaller side, but this location comes with a lot of versatility. There is a parking garage connected to the building that offers edgy look, yet keeps it beautiful and bright with a with white washed brick and many windows for light to come through. Head up a couple stairs and you’ll find yourself a rooftop overlooking Pontiac! And lastly, right around the block from the building there are tons of cool, colorful wall murals.
West Studio (Update: closed until further notice)
If you’re looking for a space that provides a more traditional headshot setup along with rich details, West Studio is a great option. Located in Ferndale, this 1920s building has high ceilings with beautiful moldings and craftsmanship. Included are different seating options like chairs and couches, and the cutest window nooks filled with plants.
December December
Looking for an industrial chic vibe with lots of natural light? Look no further than this gem at December December. Located in Corktown, this location is easy to get to and is fully furnished so you don’t need to worry about props! At least, not big ones. There is a kitchen, bed, couches and more! Ideal for getting many looks in one space.
Studio Studio
Studio Studio
If natural, bright light is what you’re seeking, look no further than this gorgeous location! Located in Ann Arbor, Studio Studio is a large space that offers a variety of looks. When you first walk in, you’re greeted with an all white space filled with windows, office, and living room furniture. Perfect for those images where you want to capture a ‘working’ or casual lifestyle vibe. Next to it, a large, wide-open floor plan room where we can get creative with rolling backdrops, capture full-body shots, and use larger props. To end, there’s a beautiful, modern kitchen space for those of you looking for lifestyle shots in a dining/kitchen setting. I love creating brand images in this space!
The Locale
A new favorite of mine! While I’ve only done one product photoshoot here, I instantly fell in love with the aesthetic of this location. It’s a perfect location for a lifestyle product shoot, as it provides all the areas of a home. All the decor is perfectly curated and creates a beautiful, welcoming space. Located in downtown Lake Orion, this gorgeous space is also available for overnight stays.
